Estelle Lhoest

Estelle, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, former nutrition assistant at the University of Liège, author and co-author of some 10 academic articles, a qualified nutritionist, phytotherapist and aromatherapist, Miloa founder and president.

Since I was very young, I’ve always taken care of injured feathered and furry friends, so it was only natural that I should become a vet.

I grew up surrounded by animals and plants and I simply can’t get enough of them.

How can you fail to admire Ginkgo, which grew back the year after the atomic bomb explosion in Hiroshima, or poppies, which give us morphine ?

Plants are so remarkable. They are fixed to the spot, so they must source their survival resources from within. Since 2006 I’ve been analysing their defence strategies and studying their many properties. Working with researchers from all over the world, we are developing unique innovative solutions to keep your pets in good health and help them live longer. Miloa is my way of thanking, every day, my friends with feathers, fur, scales, two legs, four legs or no legs at all, for all the love and the lessons they have been giving me for more than 40 years !

I’m passionate about nature and animals, so becoming a vet was the obvious choice for me. After studying veterinary medicine at Namur and Liège for six years, with a little detour to Spain in between, I finally qualified in 2015. That was the start of a fascinating and sometimes unpredictable journey! With a wide range of experience under my belt, I came to the conclusion that we need to pay more attention to Mother Nature in our daily working lives: not just the riches she offers us, but also the respect we owe her. After all, don’t they say that nature is the source of all remedies? So I turned to Miloa and its natural yet effective solutions. I wanted to play my part in the Miloa story by helping my colleagues find out more about these products and their uses. That’s why I’ve joined the team as a consultant vet, while continuing to take care of our four-legged friends, who give so much back to us.

When I graduated from Liège University in 2013, I worked with small animals. During this early part of my career I discovered that conventional therapies are not always the best way to improve the health of our pets and are even less effective in preventing certain diseases. At Miloa I have found exceptional competence and enthusiasm combined with excellent, really interesting scientific and personal development training. I divide my time between medical practice and Miloa. I combine veterinary medicine with providing my colleagues with the knowledge and training they need to make best use of phytotherapy. Nature has so much to give so why not learn to use it?

I’m passionate about the beauty of nature and enjoy hiking, running and photography in the great outdoors. My love of nature’s bounty led me to Miloa and I was completely won over by the animals considered part of the in-house team (two dogs, nine cats, two tortoises and one horse). I immediately embraced this incredible human and animal adventure and am naturally willing to devote all my energy, drive and skills to this innovative and visionary company.

As an administrative assistant, I’m the go-to person for all sorts of bumps and scratches. I am the link between Miloa and the outside world and also the point of contact for all the employees. I’m in my element when I’m helping others. With my furry friends and reptiles often sharing my office, it can sometimes look like a menagerie! It is me and my sunny disposition that help ensure that Miloa runs smoothly.

Ever since I was a child I’ve been driven by a respect for the environment and a love of animals. I have been surrounded by animals all my life and always wanted to give them the best possible care. As I progress at Miloa, I am able to put these values into practice and play a part in developing better therapeutic support for our pets.

I’ve loved animals all my life and started off my career working as a veterinary assistant, before becoming a veterinary rep for a large French laboratory. After a change of scenery for a few years, still in sales but in a very different field, I’ve now returned to the veterinary sector. I’m delighted to be able to offer my skills to an organisation as dynamic and innovative as Miloa, in the knowledge that we are all working together – the lab team, vets and owners – to improve the well-being of our beloved pets.

Quality, respect and honesty are my defining values and values that I also find in the Miloa team. Passionate about natural alternatives, I was lucky enough to come across Dr Lhoest, who dedicates her life to researching the best ingredients with one goal in mind: the well-being of our four-legged friends.
