Introducing Consti Regul TM, the latest addition to our range. It comes as a graduated syringe containing an appetising paste to relieve constipation. Constipation occurs when bowel function slows down, causing too few bowel movements, dry, hard stools or pain when defecating. It is a symptom, not an illness, which means it can have any number of causes, including ingesting stones, bones or other foreign bodies, prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate), perineal hernia, an anal gland abscess, pelvic fractures and megacolon.
Certain medications can also cause constipation. Some breeds, primarily bulldogs, Boston terriers and Manx cats, may be more susceptible than others. The different actions of Consti Regul TM’s nine ingredients – some well-known such as fig, date and prune, and others that are more specific – will speed up your pet’s intestinal transit and help it defecate. But that’s not all this new product can do. It can also aid the transit of hairballs in cats.
While grooming themselves, cats can sometimes ingest quite a large quantity of hair, which is usually regurgitated, much to the delight of their owners! Occasionally, however, this does not happen and it can build up and cause constipation, or even block intestinal transit. It’s more likely to happen to house cats, as they are sedentary, or cats that moult a lot, but this is not always the case.
